Long Island Cola
This is a coffee from the family farm of the 2023 World Barista Champion, Fazenda Um. This is an Ethiopian variety called Wush Wush, naturally processed and grown at an altitude of 1100masl (latitude ~22°S). We called this one Long Island Cola because it's got that easy drinking bergamot black tea dancing around with a robust cola sweetness with hints of fruits popping in and out.Coming from completely non-traditional coffee farmers, Fazenda Um began in an abandoned farm Southern Minas Gerais in 2009. Stefano Um, son of South Korean immigrants in Brazil, was never involved with producing coffee in his life until he began thinking about retirement. Stefano lived and grew up in the country side in Korea before moving to Brazil at the age of 12, which always brought wonderful memories of his childhood in a rice field in South Korea. With a deep desire to live in the countryside, Fazenda Um began unpretentiously as a retirement plan. The farm, which was over 50 years old, was abandoned until in 2011 it was acquired by Stefano Um, who began dedicating his production to high quality coffees. With a distinct and complex terroir, the region is known for producing some of the best coffees in Brazil.
