Raul runs Buena Vista alongside his wife, Astrid Medina. Their farm sits in the remote highlands of southern Tolima, a region that for many years was overlooked by buyers due to guerrilla activity and limited access.

Buena Vista began producing specialty coffee through a Fedecafé program focused on developing late‑harvest lots in 2014, enhancing the crop so that they are equally proud of both harvests. In 2015, they earned the top lot in the Cup of Excellence, selling their lot for 10x above the C-price at the time. They work tirelessly to raise both the quality floor and ceiling of all of their coffees.
