This double washed Colombia coffee has notes of Swedish fish candy, white tea, and caramel. It is named after King Gustav III's famed attempt at preventing the public from drinking coffee; In order to prove that coffee was detrimental to public health, he commuted a pair of twins sentenced to execution and had one brother drink three pots of coffee each day while the other twin had to drink three pots of tea each day for the remainder of their life imprisonment.

Both twins outlived King Gustav III, with the coffee drinking twin also outliving the doctors in charge of the experiment.

This coffee is a dark-light roast, as a way to pay homage to Nordic coffee trends and Fika. Please enjoy with a tasty pastry!

Origin: Anserma, Caldas, Colombia

Process: Anoxic Double Washed

The coffee cherries are floated and sorted before being fermented in a sealed biotransformer, then pulped before being washed again. The cherries are then dried in mechanical driers.

Farm: Finca La Palmera

As a young boy, Don Octavio Rodriguez loved growing up surrounded by coffee trees. His hard work allowed the small farm he purchased at the start of his coffee career, to grow to its now 161 hectares while he also worked as a doctor and eventually hospital director. His son, Ignacio, now runs the farm and follows in his father’s footsteps where he pays above-market rates to ensure the highest quality cherry. They also operate their coffee as El Embrujo - meaning the hypnotizing charm, after what they believe coffee can be.
